Zeev Maoz

Zeev Maoz "is professor of Political Science and director of the International Relations Program at the University of California, Davis, as well as Distinguished Fellow at the Interdisciplinary Center, Herzliya, Israel. He is the President of the Peace Science Society (International) during 2007-08. Before coming to Davis he was head of the Graduate School of Government and Policy at Tel-Aviv University. He also served as the Head of the Jaffee Center for Strategic Studies (1994-1997), as the Academic Director of the M.A. program of the National Defense College of the IDF (1990-1994), and as Chairman of the Department of Political Science at the University of Haifa (1991-1994). Prof. Maoz received his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan. He also held visiting appointments at Carnegie-Mellon University, New York University, Rice University, and the University of Michigan...

"Prof. Maoz serves on the editorial board of several journals including International Studies Quarterly, Journal of Conflict Resolution, International Interactions, and Conflict Management and Peace Science. He is the first non-North American recipient of the Karl Deutsch Award of the International Studies Association for his scholarly contribution to international relations research. During the years 1999-2000 he served as the Vice President of the International Studies Association. His current work focuses on network analysis of international politics, enduring international rivalries, democratic peace theory, Israeli national security and foreign policy, and Middle East politics."   • His recent book Defending the Holy Land provides a comprehensive assesment of Israel's national security and foreign relations since the founding of the state, but does not cover the 2006 Lebanon War(also refered to as the Second Lebanon War or July War).[1]
