"Allied Waste owns and operates 169 active landfills across the country, with an average remaining life of 30 years" and it also runs "57 recycling facilities offer waste handling and collection services and educational programs in certain markets." They "recycle more than 1.7 million tons of recyclable commodities a year, including paper, glass and plastics and reusable construction debris." [1]
