Amgen is a large pharmaceutical company based in Thousand Oaks, California, USA. In 2006, it had sales of $14.3 billion and profits of $3 billion. It makes drugs for cancer, nephrology, inflammatory disorders, and metabolic and neurodegenerative diseases. About half of its sales are the two anti-anemia drugs Epogen and Aranesp. In the multi-billion-dollar rheumatoid arthritis market, its drug Enbrel is one of the best sellers. Amgen's top customers are wholesale distributors like AmerisourceBergen. [1]
