The Australian Climate Science Coalition (ACSC) is a climate change skeptics website created by the the Australian Environment Foundation (AEF), a spin-off group created by the the corporate funded think tank, the Institute of Public Affairs. In 2009-2010 the ACSC was almost exclusively funded by the Heartland Institute, via the American Climate Science Coalition [1]

ACSC states that it works "closely with the International Climate Science Coalition"[2] and that it does "not believe that past and current climates are sufficiently well understood to enable projections of future climate changes to be accurately predicted."[2]

The role of the AEF

The postal address given on the group's website is the same address as for the Australian Environment Foundation (AEF), a spin-off group created by the the corporate funded think tank, the Institute of Public Affairs. The group also states that its Executive Director is Max Rheese, who is also the Executive Director of the AEF.[3]

Following the AEF's 2008 annual conference, its chair Jennifer Marohasy wrote that the group had decided "that the best thing we could do as an organisation for the environment over the next year would be to oppose the Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS)."[4]

"The internet is increasingly recognised as an important medium for networking and campaigning. It is a medium for getting an alternative message to a large audience. A dedicated and custom built campaigning website can make it easy for an online community to quickly find their local media and local member and send them a message – as well as encouraging their friends, colleagues and family to send a message. The AEF needs to build and run a dedicated campaigning website that will initially be used to campaign against the ETS," she wrote.[4]

The ACSC's website was registered by Rheese in late June 2008 with the listed email contact address being the same as the general AEF email address.[5]
