Bernie McKay is the Vice President of Government Affairs at Intuit Inc. "McKay is Intuit’s senior executive responsible for government affairs, industry relations and global public policy, and corporate philanthropy. Mr. McKay is also responsible for Intuit’s government programs activities, including government market sector projects and contracts for the tax products division." He was a vice president at AT&T, worked in Hewlett-Packard's Washington government office and held Presidential-appointed positions in government."[1]

Ties to the American Legislative Exchange Council

McKay served on the Private Enterprise Board of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) as of 2011.[2] On April 5, 2012, McKay told CMD that Intuit had decided not to renew its ALEC membership and board seat in 2011.[3]

About ALEC
ALEC is a corporate bill mill. It is not just a lobby or a front group; it is much more powerful than that. Through ALEC, corporations hand state legislators their wishlists to benefit their bottom line. Corporations fund almost all of ALEC's operations. They pay for a seat on ALEC task forces where corporate lobbyists and special interest reps vote with elected officials to approve “model” bills.
