Defense Solutions describes itself as a Pennsylvania-based "international project management, executive consulting, and business development firm." [1]

Services offered by the company include program management, defense programs, armored vehicles, homeland security, telecommunications, program advocacy, strategic studies and security systems. [2]

In Spring 2007, the company retained retired general, NBC News analyst and former Pentagon pundit Barry McCaffrey as a consultant. Within days, McCaffrey had gotten Defense Solutions' proposal to provide Iraq with 5,000 armored vehicles into the hands of then-U.S. commander in Iraq General David Petraeus. "That's what I pay him for," Defense Solutions CEO Timothy D. Ringgold told the New York Times. McCaffrey also made comments supportive of the Defense Solutions proposal in testimony before Congress, in media appearances, and in correspondence with policymakers and Defense Department officials, without disclosing his role as a consultant for the company.
