Jim Steineke is a Republican member of the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing the 5th District. Steineke has identified himself as a proponent of limited government and lower taxes.[1]

Steineke was reelected on November 6, 2012.[2]

Ties to the American Legislative Exchange Council

Steineke is a member of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) and sits on ALEC's Energy, Environment and Agriculture Task Force.In the 2011-2012 legislative session, Rep. Steineke co-authored 7 bills that reflect ALEC models, according to an analysis by the Center for Media and Democracy.
