Libertarianism is a political philosophy emphasising the rights of the individual; that both social and economic decisions are best made by individuals instead of the government. The doctrine of stresses limited government and the right to self-ownership. Libertarianism cannot easily be placed on the left-right scale that is usually used to analyse political philosophies.
