List by Year of Movies for Which Product Was Supplied in Connection with Charles Pomerantz and Andrew Varela
This is a list of movies for which cigarettes were supplied between 1976 and 1986. Although this document was found in the Philip Morris collection, it is unclear whether the cigarettes supplied were strictly Philip Morris brands or not.
The list was the result of the efforts of just two product placement agencies that worked for the tobacco industry during this time: Baldwin, Varela and Company in Studio City, California and Charles A. Pomerantz of Encino, CA. They placed tobacco products in an average of 10-16 movies per year.
The list includes such notables as "The Muppet Movie," "Who Framed Roger Rabbit," "Crocodile Dundee," "Airplane," "National Lampoon's Vacation," and a movie called "Maricela," which, according to the document, received an award for "Best Children's Script" by the Writer's Guild in 1986.
