Patricia Q. Stonesifer, "has been a Director of the Company since February 1997. Ms. Stonesifer has been Chief Executive Officer of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation since January 2006 and was its President and Co-chair from June 1997 to January 2006." [1]

"Patricia Q. Stonesifer, age 43, has been a Director of Amazon.com since February 1997. Since June 1997, Ms. Stonesifer has served as Co-Chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Prior to joining the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Ms. Stonesifer ran her own management consulting firm whose clients included DreamWorks SKG. From 1988 to 1997, Ms. Stonesifer worked in many roles at Microsoft Corporation, most recently as Senior Vice President of the Interactive Media Division. In that role, she managed Microsoft's investment in new online content and service products, notably MSNBC on the Internet. Ms. Stonesifer is also a director of Alaska Air Group, Inc., Alaska Airlines, Inc., CBS Corporation and Kinko's, Inc. Ms. Stonesifer received her B.A. in General Studies from Indiana University." [1]

She is married to Michael E. Kinsley.
