Ted Kauffman was selected to replace Sen. Joe Biden in the 111th Congress by Gov. Ruth Ann Minner (D-Del.) Kauffman is a longtime senior advisor to Biden. [1]

Positions, record, and controversies
Bio
Kaufman earned a Bachelors of Science in mechanical engineering from Duke University and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He is a long time adviser of Sen. Biden, and spent 19 years as his chief of staff. [2]
Appointment to Senate
Kaufman was appointed to fill Sen. Biden's seat in the Senate on Nov. 24, 2008. Biden will be sworn in for his seventh Senate term on Jan. 6, then will resign to to be sworn in for the Vice Presidency on Jan. 20, 2009. Kaufman will then take his place.[3] Kaufman says he will not run for the seat in the 2010 special election.[4]
