Positions, record and controversies
Spending
McClintock supports implementing a federal spending limit, and reducing wasteful and mismanaged spending from the government. [1]
Immigration
To lower the amount of illegal immigration, McClintock supports completing the southern border fence and enforcing current immigration laws more strictly, rather than creating new ones. [1]
Wildfires
McClintock believes that allowing forest and land management to be done by local government will help lower the amount of wildfires in California. [1]
National Security
McClintock supports fully funding the military as well as returning to Reagan's "peace through strength" idea. [1]
Education
For a better education system, McClintock favors allowing local government and communities to make education decisions rather than using a "one size fits all" model. [1]

McClintock would like the 2003 Bush tax cuts to be permanent, and allow businesses the opportunity to grow. [1]

Bio
2008 elections
He won the Republican nomination in the June 2008 primaries and went on to defeat Charlie Brown (D) to replace retiring incumbent Rep. John Doolittle R-Calif.) in the November, 2008 general election.[3]
