ARMPAC recipient
In October 2005, Johnson came under pressure when it was found that he had recieved $25,000 from ARMPAC, Tom DeLay's political action committee.[1]
Paperclip voting
The October 2000 issue of Illinois Issues reported that, in 1980, as a Representative in the Illinois House, Johnson lodged a paperclip into his voting button so that he could vote along party lines while out of the chamber.
Term-limit pledge
Johnson pledged to serve no more than three terms in Congress during his initial campaign in 2000. He broke the pledge, however, when he opted to seek a fourth term in 2006. [2]

Bio
Johnson was born July 23, 1946 in Urbana, Illinois. He was educated at the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York and the University of Illinois, and was a lawyer, a realtor, a member of the Urbana City Council and a member of the Illinois House of Representatives from 1976 to 2000 before entering the House.
Johnson will face David Gill in the 2006 election whom he defeated in 2004, 61% to 39%. [3]
