Wendy Wilde was born February 4, 1961 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Wilde's Minnesota family roots date back to 1872 in Waseca, Minnesota, when her great-great grandparents emigrated from Aicha, Bohemia.

The name Wilde is a pseudonym used through much of her 29 year radio career. Wilde's married name is Pareene. She studied at the University of Dayton and the University of Minnesota.

Career Background:

Wendy Wilde transformed her entertainment radio show into a news and progressive politics format beginning in 1998. From 1998-2003, Wilde was a regular weekend and weekday swing radio talk show host on 50,000 watt WCCO AM830 in Minneapolis/St. Paul. From 2003-2006, Wilde hosted a daily Minnesota-focused political talk show on the local Air America affiliate AM950.

Before 1998 Wilde was mainly a Country Music show host on major radio stations WMIL Milwaukee, WTSO Madison, WJEZ Chicago, and WYNK Baton Rouge. She was a radio News Reporter and Morning News Anchor for WMMX Columbus and WHIO Dayton, Ohio from 1989 to 1992.

Political Background: Wilde announced her candidacy for the MN-3 Congressional seat as a Democratic-Farmer-Labor party contender on April 29, 2006 and received the DFL endorsement on May 6, 2006 after debating two DFL opponents. Wilde received a 98.5% endorsement vote in the first round.

On September 12, Wilde won the party's spot on the November 7 ballot with 76.84% of the Democratic vote. There were two DFL challengers, Kevin Smith and Gavin Sullivan, the same two challengers who failed to obtain the DFL endorsement on May 6. The challengers each claimed just less than 12% of the primary vote.

Wendy Wilde was the only challenger to 8-term Republican incumbent Jim Ramstad on the November 7 General Election ballot for MN-3. Ramstad retained his seat.
