Adam Michnik "is a well-known dissident, historian, and the founder and editor-in-chief of the Polish newspaper, Gazeta Wyborcza. During the 80s, he was advisor to the trade union Solidarnosc. He has published widely in a range of international newspapers and has written a number of books including Letters from Prison (1985), La Deuxieme Revolution (1990) and Letters from Freedom (1998). In 2001, he was awarded the Erasmus prize." [1]
