Adolfo Calero Portocarrero (often simply called Adolfo Calero) was the nominal leader of the CIA-organized counter-revolutionary forces, the Contras, fighting the Sandinistas in Nicaragua. The Contras were split among those based in Honduras and those in Costa Rica. The Honduran Contras were more important, and Calero was the nominal leader of this group.

In 1985, Calero attended the Democratic International, a summit of right-wing insurgent groups at the Jamba headquarters of UNITA in Angola.[1]
