African Migration Alliance "was launched in March 2005 at an international workshop held in Pretoria/Tshwane with the sponsorship of South Africa's Department of Social Development. It is a network initiative attended by scholars and researchers working on migration across Africa.

"AMA is conceived as a forum that contributes to gather more complete and high-quality data on migration in Africa and develop a more comprehensive research initiative. A steering committee of representatives from the four major African sub-regions has been established to oversee the proceedings and to plan and raise funds for extending the network. The alliance is based in South Africa at Human Science Research Council. The homepage in not yet available. Further information is available at the following address: www.hrsc.ac.za" [1]
