Biographical Information

"Alex most recently served as managing director of Noribachi, a Cleantech venture accelerator based in San Francisco and New Mexico. Prior to joining Noribachi, Alex spent three years at Cleantech venture firm Expansion Capital Partners, where he was actively involved with investing in and managing the firm's portfolio companies SensorTran, CPower and Element Labs.

"Previous to Expansion Capital, Alex co-founded and was a partner at Blackwolf Partners, an early stage Cleantech venture capital firm. Alex has also served as a venture investment professional and senior manager at JPMorgan Partners and Hambrecht & Quist's venture unit. He started his career at the Vietnam Fund Management Company, managing one of the first venture funds in Vietnam based in the firm's Hong Kong and then Ho Chi Minh City offices.

"Alex is a member of the Advisory Council of the Center for Sustainable Global Enterprise at Cornell University. Alex often lectures on venture capital financing, entrepreneurship, and sustainable technologies.

"Alex has served as Chairman and President of the Excelerate Foundation and its predecessor non-profit organization since 1991. Excelerate supports innovative nonprofit organizations that motivate under-advantaged youth to initiate positive change and leadership in the areas of community, the environment, and entrepreneurship.

"Alex earned a B.A. degree in International Relations and Asian Studies from Tulane University, studied at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and holds an MBA from Cornell University." [1]

"Prior to Blackwolf Partners, Mr. Sloan served as interim Vice President of Strategy and Corporate Development for Encirq Corporation. Prior to Encirq, he spent three years with JPMorgan Partners, during which he served as Chief Operating Officer of two major heritage Hambrecht & Quist venture capital funds, which focused on promising technology and information services companies. From 1993 through 1996, Alex was Vice President of Vietnam Fund Management Company Limited, managing the fund's venture investments in Ho Chi Minh City. From 1992-1993, Alex served as a presidential appointee in the Bush Administration as Aide to the Administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development.

"For the last 14 years, Alex has served as Chairman and President of National Youth Leadership Forum, which provides career oriented educational programs for high school students." [1]
