Ann Ewing joined the Board of De Montfort University "in September 2012 and is a member of the Finance and Human Resources Committee...She was educated at Howell’s School for Girls in Denbigh, North Wales. She completed her PGCE and PhD at Trinity College, Cambridge, and spent two years as an Assistant Lecturer in the University of London in the early 1980s.
"Ann later accepted a research role at BP, and then held a number of business management roles to gain an understanding of the business. Having completed an MBA from the University of Warwick, she moved into Human Resources in 1990 as a senior manager in the Human Resources Strategy team for BP Chemicals.
"In 1992, Ann moved into a large business transformation role as Strategic Planning Manager. One of the most significant chapters in her BP career came between 1995 and 1998 when she helped lead the merger, from an HR perspective, of BP with Amoco. From there, she led graduate recruitment and leadership development across BP as General Manager for Recruitment and Learning and Development, and subsequently as Vice President of Organisational Capability. In 2004, she was appointed as Vice President of Change Management for the manufacturing part of the business.
"Ann took up the position of Head of Learning and Development at HSBC Bank in 2006, a post she held for four years. In 2011, she was appointed as Strategic Human Resources Leader for Absolute Return for Kids (ARK), which delivers programmes in the areas of health, education and child protection internationally.
"Ann is also currently Chair of the governing body at Oval School in Croydon and an assistant lecturer at the Open University Business School."
