Barbara Howe, Adjunct Associate Professor, State University of New York at Buffalo. CV She completed her Ph.D. thesis in 1976 at Cornell University; the thesis was titled "The emergence of the philanthropic foundation as an American social institution, 1900-1920."

In 2004 "Howe is serving in her 17th year as a New York State Judge. She holds a bachelor's degree, with highest honors and Phi Beta Kappa, from the University of Connecticut. She earned master's and doctoral degrees in sociology from Cornell University, and a juris doctor degree from the UB Law School.

"She joined the UB faculty in 1974 and became a tenured faculty member in 1981. Since her election to the bench in 1987, Howe retains appointments at UB as adjunct clinical professor of law and adjunct associate professor of sociology.

"Howe is a member of the President's Council of Cornell Women and the boards of the Erie County Bar Foundation Endowment Fund for Pro Bono Legal Services and the St. Augustine Center. She is vice president of the boards of the Women Judges of the State of New York and the One Hundred Club of Buffalo and Western New York, Inc. Howe is also a former president of the UB Law Alumni Association." [1]

Her husband is John Alexanderson.
