Ben Jones

Ben Jones "is a Lecturer in Development Studies at the University of East Anglia, he was formerly a Lecturer in Social Policy with the Centre for Civil Society at LSE. His research is concerned with civil society organizations and their relation to the state. In particular, Ben’s work is concerned with religious and indigenous forms of civil society and their significance in processes of development and change. His regional expertise is on sub-Saharan Africa with a particular focus on the contrasting cases of Uganda and Nigeria.

"Ben was formerly employed by the World Bank where he worked with the Poverty Reduction Research Group. He was part of a team responsible for the Voices of the Poor study, a background piece for the World Development Report 2000/01 on Poverty and Development. Ben has also worked for the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace where he provided research assistance for the "Democracy Project" led by Marina Ottaway and Thomas Carothers." [1]
