Bill Kovarik

Bill Kovarik is a journalist, historian and Professor of Communication at Radford University in the Blue Ridge mountains of southwestern Virginia. He has worked with wire services, daily newspapers, national news magazines, environmental publications and new media projects.

He teaches science and environment writing, journalism, web design, media history media law, and peace studies. He writes for Appalachian Voice, the New River Voice, Environmental Health News, Coal Swarm, Daily Kos, and many other science, environmental and new media publications.

His latest book, Revolutions in Communication, spans six centuries from Gutenberg to Wikileaks. Prof. Maurine H. Beasley called it: "A stunning work of research [that] conveys intellectual excitement and stimulates creative thinking about the social construction of communication."

Kovarik has also served two terms as the representative for academic members of the Society of Environmental Journalists.
