Boffa Alumina power station
The Boffa Alumina power station is a proposed 250-megawatt (MW) coal-fired power station in Boffa Prefecture, Guinea.

In September 2011 Guinea officials asked China Power Investment (CPI) to build a 340 MW coal-fired power plant in the country. It was reported that the "project is part of ongoing negotiations between Guinea and CPI over the potential development of a bauxite mine in Boffa and construction of an alumina refinery and deepwater port."
In 2013 CPI Group signed a project concession agreement with the Government of Guinea to build an industrial park in CPI Guinea Boffa region. The park will include an aluminum plant and at least 250 MW of installed coal capacity. There will also be a deep-water port and an associated aluminum mine at the Sanger Reddy district. Construction is planned to begin in 2014 and end in 2020.
In March 2015 Guinea cancelled a tender for bauxite mining blocks by China's Shandong Xinfa Aluminum and Electricity Group. It was reported that investor interest in the country for bauxite has cooled because of low metals prices coupled with political and contractual instability.
There have been no news of further developments on the CPI project, and it appears to be shelved.
