Established in 2004 within the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Sydney, the Brain & Mind Research Institute (BMRI) is described as the only centre of its kind in the world. It brings together patients, support groups, psychiatrists and neurologists in an environment that promotes synergy of effort and sharing ideas. [1]

The Institute states that diseases of the brain and mind account for more that 40 percent of all illness. Clinical studies, an outpatient clinic and a postgraduate program are conducted at the Institute. [2]

Focus is on five main clinical areas: youth mental health, child developmental disorders, psychotic disorders, dementia and multiple sclerosis. [3]
