Burton J. McMurtry

Burton J. McMurtry "has been a Silicon Valley venture capital investor since 1969. He co-founded several venture capital partnerships, including Technology Venture Investors (TVI). TVI-backed companies include Adaptec, Altera, Compaq, Intuit, Linear Technology Corporation, Microsoft, Nellcor, PMC Sierra, Quantum, SpectraLink, Sun Microsystems, Synopsys, VeriFone, and Visio. Mr. McMurtry serves as a trustee of Rice University, Stanford University, and the Carnegie Institution of Washington. A native of Houston, Texas, he holds a BA and BSEE degrees from Rice University and MS and PhD degrees in electrical engineering from Stanford University." [1]

"Burt served seventeen years on the Rice University board, eleven years on the Stanford University board (the last four as chairman, ending July 1, 2008,) and seven years on the board of the Carnegie Institution of Washington." [2]

He is married to Deedee McMurtry.
