Background on Project

CPI Zhongwei Cogen power station is a two-unit coal-fired power plant with a total capacity of 700 MW in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. It is sponsored by CPI and Ningxia Power Investment Group. The plant was scheduled to be completed in 2015,[1] and was commissioned in 2016.[2]


In July 2015, China Power Investment Corporation (CPI) and State Nuclear Power Technology Corporation (SNPTC) merged to become State Power Investment Corporation (国家电力投资集团), one of the five largest state-owned electricity producers in the People's Republic of China.[3]
