The UK Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC), as of May 2012, lists sixteen coal fired power stations as operating in the United Kingdom with a total installed capacity of 23,941 megawatts. (Of the sixteen power stations, nine are purely coal-fed while the remainder use coal as one of the fuels burnt). DECC lists the current coal-fired power station in the UK, as of May 2012, as being:[1]
