Doug Morris "has been the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Universal Music Group since November 1995. In July 1995, he formed a joint venture with Universal Music Group for a full-service record label. Prior to that, Mr. Morris served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Warner Music U.S. commencing in 1994 and was soon after appointed Chairman. He served as President of Atlantic Records and Co-Chief Executive Officer of the Atlantic Recording Group from 1980 to 1994. Mr. Morris began his career as a songwriter, producer, and the founder of his own record label, which was acquired by Atlantic Records in 1978." [1]
