The Drug Free America Foundation is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to "developing, promoting and sustaining global strategies, policies and laws that will reduce illegal drug use, drug addiction, drug-related injury and death."[1]

Leadership

It is currently led by Betty Sembler and Professor Calvina Fay.

Betty Sembler has helped form public policy in the United States' campaign against drugs through her participation in the White House Conference for a Drug Free America, as a member of the Governor's Drug Policy Task Force in Florida, and as a board member of DARE Florida (Drug Abuse Resistance Education), a national organization that provides drug resistance education for elementary and middle school students. Mrs. Sembler also serves on the board of DARE International as vice-chairperson.

Calvina Fay holds a master's degree in business administration, and is a professor at the Argentina Universidad del Salvador. She has over 25 years of experience in the drug prevention field and is considered a pioneering expert on workplace drug abuse prevention programs. She has authored several books, including The Supervisor's Handbook For Preventing Drug Abuse in The Workplace and Starting a Drug Free Business Initiative, as well as numerous newsletters and publications in the field on regional and national levels. She was the managing editor and co-author of A Report on Employer Attitudes and the Impact of Drug Control Strategies on Workplace Productivity. She also served as the managing editor of a monograph titled Drug Abuse in the Decade of the Brain.

Drug Free America Foundation is a Non-Govermental Organization (NGO) in Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations.

Although DFAF was created by Betty Sembler, it is not and never has been affiliated with the organization known as Straight Inc, a residential treatment program for children.

DFAF is not nor has ever been a treatment facility.

DFAF is not nor has ever been a lobbying organization.

Both Betty Sembler and Calvina Fay are also the founders of SOS, Save Our Society, which is a lobbying organization that fights legalization efforts of all illicit drugs.
