"Emilio Azcárraga-Jean joined Grupo Televisa in 1988 as Director of Operations for Channel 12 of Tijuana. In 1990, he was appointed Corporate Vice President of Television Programming, and in 1996 he was appointed Chief Operating Officer, overseeing all operational aspects of the company.

"On March 1997, he became President and Chief Executive Officer of Grupo Televisa, and in April of the same year Chairman of the Board. Under Emilio’s leadership, Televisa has maintained its dominant position in the Mexican television market with over 70% audience share. The company’s operating income has more than doubled and its pay television subscribers have increased 556% to more than 1.2 million.

"Today, the company has the strongest balance sheet in its history and is well positioned to continue improving its operating performance and seek new initiatives to create value for its shareholders.

"Emilio is also President of Organización de la Televisión Iberoamericana (OTI), and a Member of the Board of Consejo Mexicano de Hombres de Negocios (Mexican Council of Businessmen), Teléfonos de México (Telmex), and Grupo Financiero Banamex (Banamex Financial Group)." [1]
