Mr. Greg Craig, "is the newly appointed Special Coordinator for Tibetan Issues at the U.S. Department of State. Given his current position as the Director of Policy Planning at the Department of State, Mr. Craig will be in an excellent situation to implement the objectives of promoting substantive negotiations between the Dalai Lama or his representatives and the Chinese leadership to resolve the Tibetan problem.

Mr. Greg Craig was born in Norfolk, VA, on March 4, 1945. He served from 1984 to 1988 as aide to Senator Edward Kennedy on foreign policy, defence, and national security affairs. He has been a board member of several organizations, including the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, the U.S. Committee to Expand NATO, the International Human Rights Law Group (was chairman of the board), and the Overseas Development Council.

"Prior to joining the State Department, Mr. Craig was a partner in the law firm of Williams & Connolly. He is a graduate of Harvard College, Cambridge University, and Yale Law School.
