Biographical Information

"Gunnar Stalsett, Bishop emeritus of Oslo, is currently Member of the Executive Committee of the World Conference of Religions for Peace, and Co-Moderator of its affiliated European Council of Religious Leaders, as well as Chair of the Niwano Peace Prize Committee. He is currently member of UNAID’s International Advisory Committee AIDS2031, and of the World Economic Forum’s Islam and the West Dialogue. He served as State Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Culture and Church Affairs (1972/73), Chairperson of the Center Party (1977–79), Deputy Member of Parliament, and Member of the Oslo City Council. He has been Deputy Chairman of the Nobel Peace Prize Committee. He serves as Special Envoy of Norway to the national reconciliation dialogue in East Timor." [1]
