Haviva Kohl is the former Executive Director for Teachers Without Borders (TWB). "In 2005 under the auspices of TWB, Haviva helped to organize the first-ever education conference for Hutu and Tutsi teachers in Burundi since the 1994 Rwanda genocide. She has focused her work in the field of international development with an emphasis on education, and has worked in over 54 countries around the world. Prior to her affiliation with TWB, Haviva worked as an inner-city middle school teacher in the South Bronx, NY. After teaching in the South Bronx for several years, Haviva moved to East Africa and helped to found a school in Songea, Tanzania. In addition to her teaching experience, Haviva has also worked in health care research and on HIV/AIDS awareness initiatives. She received her B.A. in Economics and Political Science from the University of Southern California and her M.A. in Education from Lehman College. In 2008, Haviva completed her second masters degree in Public Policy from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government where she was co-chair of the first-ever student led Human Rights Conference.
