Jim Weill
Jim Weill "has been President of the Food Research and Action Center since February 1998. In that capacity he oversees all FRAC activities, including its federal, state and local work on food stamps, child nutrition and WIC. He has devoted his entire professional career to issues of hunger, poverty, income support programs, health insurance for the poor, and the legal rights of children and poor people. Prior to joining FRAC, he was at the Children's Defense Fund for 16 years, as Program Director and then as General Counsel. At the Children's Defense Fund he was responsible for overseeing a range of projects, campaigns and publications, particularly in the areas of health reform and anti-poverty policy. Before CDF, he was Deputy Director and Director of Federal Litigation at the Legal Assistance Foundation of Chicago. He litigated numerous cases in the federal court of appeals and Supreme Court on Social Security, Medicaid, food stamps and other public benefits. He is chair of the board of directors of the Alliance for Justice; a member of the boards of the National Center for Youth Law, the Calvert Social Investment Fund Advisory Council, and OMB Watch; and served as a member of the U.S. delegation to the UNICEF Executive Board. His undergraduate degree is from Cornell and law degree from New York University.“ [1]
