John R. Galvin

John R. Galvin[1] is a Commissioner on the U.S. Commission on National Security/21st Century / Hart-Rudman Commission and is Dean of the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.

Galvin served as Supreme Allied Commander Europe; Commander in Chief, United States European Command; Commander in Chief, United States Southern Command; and was a Special State Department Envoy (Rank of Ambassador) to Bosnia. He is also the Olin Distinguished Professor of National Security at the United States Military Academy and a Distinguished Policy Analyst, Mershon Center, Ohio State University.

Board affiliations include: Raytheon Company, Center for Creative Leadership, Institute for Defense Analyses, and J & W Seligman & Co. He is Chair Emeritus of the American Council on Germany.

Galvin received a Bachelor of Science from the United States Military Academy; Master of Arts, Columbia University; and did Post-Graduate Work at the Army Command, General Staff College, Army War College, University of Pennsylvania, and the Fletcher school.
