John Scanlon': Principal Advisor to the Executive Director on Policy and Programme UNEP.

"John joined UNEP in February 2007 where he holds the position of Principal Advisor to the Executive Director on Policy and Programme. John was also Team Leader of the Strategic Implementation Team in 2007-2008 - established to help drive the implementation of a wide range of reforms within the organization, in which capacity he led the development of UNEP's Medium-term Strategy 2010-2013.

"John's previous appointments include: Chief Executive, Department of Environment, Heritage and Aboriginal Affairs (Adelaide, Australia), Deputy Director General, Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Natural Resources (Sydney, Australia), Strategic Advisor to the World Commission on Dams (Cape Town, South Africa), Head of the IUCN Environmental Law Programme and Director of the IUCN Environmental Law Centre (Bonn, Germany), Director, WaterEd Australia Pty. Ltd., and Australia's first independent Commissioner on the Murray Darling Basin Commission.

"John was admitted to legal practice in 1984, holds a Bachelor of Laws (1983), Master of Laws (Environmental) (1995), is a member of the IUCN Commission on Environmental Law (1995), and is an accredited mediator (1996)." [1]
