"John started his career in the oil industry spending some time offshore as a Cost Engineer. He has worked for British Petroleum and Marathon Oil mainly in project management of drilling activities and construction projects. Later he held positions in Manganese, Transport and Logistics and Minerals Corporate in a variety of CFO/Commercial roles before moving into Energy Coal as Chief Development Officer in July 2001. John was also the President Energy Coal Operations for BHP Billiton, responsible for the Energy Coal Customer Sector Group operations in Australia, the US and Colombia before becoming BHP’s CEO." [1]
