Biographical Information

"Justin Rockefeller is a Principal of Richmond Global, a global venture capital firm focusing on technology-enabled services and mobile technologies with applications in the U.S. and across major emerging markets. Justin focuses on deal sourcing and investor relations. He is also responsible for examining investments in sustainable enterprise development and is a Director of the Richmond Sustainability Foundation, which makes grants as equity to such endeavors.

"Prior to that, Rockefeller was Vice President of Uhuru Capital Management, an investment management platform designed to enable investors to pursue superior financial returns while facilitating global economic and social development. Previously, Justin was Co-Founder and National Program Director of GenerationEngage, a nonprofit organization that empowered young adults with resources and access to become leaders in their communities and active participants in our democracy. After operation in five states from 2005-2009 with technology partnerships with Apple and Google, and with Mr. Rockefeller serving as Chairman of the board, GenerationEngage merged with Mobilize.org.

"He serves on the boards of Rockefeller Brothers Fund; Richmond Sustainability Foundation; and Mobilize.org. He is a member of TED, the Americas Business Council Foundation Fellows, and the Executive Committee of The International Council of The Museum of Modern Art. Previously, he served on the boards of Population Council; Japan Society; Alliance for the Arts; the New York State Commission on National and Community Service; and on the National Leadership Council of GLSEN (the Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network). He received a B.A. from Princeton University.

"On a semi-regular basis between 2004-2009, Rockefeller tutored grammar and expository writing at New York’s TEAK Fellowship for underprivileged youth of high potential; he received TEAK’s 2009 “Volunteer of the Year Award.” In addition, he has received four other awards: the 2007 Common Cause Andrew Heiskell Youth Democracy in Action Award; the 2008 Edwin Powell Hubble Medal of Initiative; a 2009 Ashoka “Entrepreneur of the Good and Close Co-Venturer” award; and a 2008 New Leaders Council 40 Under 40 Emerging Leader Award."
