Karapinar Konya Şeker power station
|This article is part of the CoalSwarm coverage of Turkey and coal.|
Karapinar Konya Şeker power station is a proposed 2,000-megawatt (MW) coal-fired power plant in Konya province, Turkey.
The map below shows the location of Karapinar district, the approximate location where the plant would be built in Konya province.
Background on Plant
In January 2011, Konya Şeker (Konya Sugar, a subsidiary of Anadolu Birlik Holding) announced that it planned to build a $2 billion, 2,000 MW coal-fired power plant to power its sugar refining operations in Turkey's central Konya province. More recent information on this project is not available. It seems possible that this project was superseded by both the larger Konya Karapinar power station project, and by Konya Şeker's purchase of the privatized Kangal power station in August 2013.
