Kingsley Ofei-Nkansah

"Kingsley Ofei-Nkansah has been a trade unionist since 1986 working mainly in the General Agricultural Workers Union of the Trades Union Congress in Ghana. Since 2008 he has been the General Secretary of the Union with direct responsibility for External Relations, and Policy Advocacy and Campaign, among others. He is known for his long-standing activist work on food security, sustainable development, human rights and gender equality issues. He has been a lead campaigner against obnoxious international trade agreements, gender violence, land grabbing, genetically modified organisms and corruption in Ghana. He serves on various International, Regional and National Boards and Committees including the National Media Commission in Ghana; National Climate Change Committee; Country Team for the Comprehensive African Agricultural Development; Board of ABANTU for Development-A leading Gender focussed organisation; West African Working Group on Trade and Development; Board of the Agricultural Workers Trade Group of the International Union of Food. He got a first degree in Political Science with Philosophy and has taken a number of postgraduate and certificate courses including Labour Policy Studies, International Trade and Labour Market; Rural Development Project Planning; Organisation Development and Alternative Dispute Resolution."[1]
