Klimaforum09 is an alternative to the official UN Climate Conference in Copenhagen, COP15.[1] It is described as a gathering of "citizens from all corners of the world to create a socially just and sustainable future. The idea is to create an open space, where people, movements and organizations can develop constructive solutions to the climate crisis, perhaps the most serious and urgent challenge ever to face humanity."[2]

Point of View

This alternative conference is said to be "based on the belief that meeting the challenge requires more than new technologies. New ways of thinking, new cultural values, and new ways of organizing society are called for. Thousands of participants from all continents are expected to take part in Klimaforum09. Special effort is put into inviting people from regions in Asia, Africa, Latin America, and Oceania that will suffer most under the destructive consequences of manmade global warming."[3]

Reports from Klimaforum09
