Background

The station has been proposed by Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company, a publicly-owned generation utility formed in 2009 following the restructuring of the Chhattisgarh State Electricity Board. The company is proposing to build the power station near the villages of Risdi and Risda in the Korba district of Chhattisgarh, India.[1] On its website the company states the project will be commissioned in 2014.[2]

In 2013 the India Coal Ministry allotted Baisi coal block in India with an estimated reserve of 150 million tonnes for the Chattishgarh State Power Generation Co. for the proposed Korba South Thermal Power Project (1000 mw) and proposed Bunji Bundeli Thermal Power Project (500 mw).[3]

However, as of December 2017 the project has yet to receive environmental clearance, and plans appear to be abandoned.
