Luiz Ros "is Global Manager for the Markets and Enterprise Goal at the World Resources Institute (WRI), Director for WRI's New Ventures Global Operations, and Director of WRI’s Sustainable Enterprise Program. His current focus is on developing a long-term strategy to work with private sector corporations operating in emerging economies to promote sustainable growth through investment in new market opportunities. Mr.Ros has built strong partnerships in Brazil, China, Mexico, Indonesia and India with venture capitalists, large corporations, business schools, and enterprise development institutions while raising over US$ 5 million.

"Mr. Ros also serves as an advisor to the Dupont Global Vice-President for Emerging Markets Growth. In this capacity he provides strategic as well as operational advice to Dupont teams operating in Latin America (Brazil, Mexico and Argentina) on how to deploy R&D to develop new products and services to meet the needs of “base of the pyramid” markets. Before joining WRI Mr. Ros was Director for the National Environmental Fund at the Ministry of Environment in Brazil, where he managed a $20 million annual budget funding projects in clean technology, solid waste management, organic agriculture, sustainable forestry, ecotourism, and protected areas. Under his leadership the Environmental Fund was able to maximize efficiency, growing 74% and increasing four-fold the number of annual projects they funded.

"From 1996-1999 Mr. Ros worked as a task manager and environmental specialist for the World Bank in Brazil, where he managed several GEF/biodiversity projects. Mr. Ros has a bachelor’s degree in economics, a post-graduate degree in Latin American economics, and a masters of science degree in international relations/environmental economics. All of his degrees are from the University of Brasilia. He also spent a year as a USAID/Visiting Scholar at the College of Environmental Science and Forestry at Syracuse University (SUNY). His publications include Financing the Environment: External Resources for Environment in Brazil. Between 2001 and 2004 Mr. Ros organized Sustainable Enterprises Investor Forums in Brazil, Mexico, Peru and China, bringing together over 1000 participants. He is a member of the Advisory Group for the Financial Initiative Latin America Task Force (UNEP) and the Strategic Board for Stratus Investments - VC III Fund (green fund) based in Brazil." [1]
