Luon coal mine

{{#badges:CoalSwarm}}The Luon coal mine is a proposed mine proposed to be developed by Maruwai Coal Project, a joint venture between BHP Billiton (75%) and Adaro Indonesia (25%) in Kalimantan in Indonesia.

In an April 2010 media release announcing the joint venture, BHP Billiton stated that the total resource was estimated at 140 million tonnes with 60 millions tonnes of metallurgical grade coal to be extracted from an underground mine and a further 80 million tonnes of both metallurgical and thermal grade coal to be mined from an open cut pit.[1]
