Mary Coyle

Mary Coyle, "University Vice President and Director of the Coady International Institute at St. Francis Xavier University of Nova Scotia, is a leader in the Canadian international development community. Her university responsibilities include regional and international community outreach, as well as the overall internationalization strategy for the university. Mary started her development career in 1980 working for the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in Botswana on rural industrialization. She followed that posting with a position as Rural Development Advisor in South Sulawesi, Indonesia. Mary Coyle was Executive Director of Calmeadow (1986-1996), a Canadian NGO working in micro finance in Canada and throughout the world. Her graduate studies were in rural planning and development at the University of Guelph. Mary’s expertise is in the fields of capacity building of civil society organizations, rural development, gender, management, leadership and micro finance. Formerly a board member of the Canadian Council for International Cooperation, she now sits on the boards of The North-South Institute, the International Development Research Centre, the Stephen Lewis Foundation, St. Francis Xavier University, and the Canadian Judicial Council.“ [1]
