Marybeth McDevitt was "selected to be the Director for Policy and Support [Counternarcotics] in February 2003. She has served in the Office of the Secretary of Defense since January 2001, first working the Israel account and later as the Country Director for Egypt in ISA/NESA.

"Before joining OSD, she was a Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) Middle-East intelligence specialist for 15 years. In that capacity, she enjoyed a variety of work experiences to include Deputy National Intelligence Officer at the National Intelligence Council, DIA liaison officer at US embassy Tel Aviv from 1992-1994, manager of the Middle East branch at the Defense HUMINT Service, Assistant Defense Intelligence Officer supporting OSD/-NESA, DIA's liaison officer in Cairo during Operation Desert Storm, and exchange officer with British Intelligence in London.

"Awarded the 'National Intelligence Certificate of Distinction' for her reporting from Tel Aviv, Israel and the DIA Director's Award for her work during Desert Storm.

"Ms McDevitt obtained her Master's degree in Petroleum Geology from Louisiana State University and her Bachelor's from Lafayette College in Pennsylvania. She also studied Arabic full-time for a year the Foreign Service Institute and completed graduate-level courses in Middle East studies at Georgetown and George Washington University."
