Michael A. McIntosh "and his wife, Winsome McIntosh, are the founders of ClientEarth.

"Michael has been a leader in the environmental rights movement for almost 40 years. He has played a key role in developing public interest law in the US (he and Winsome founded the National Resources Defense Council alongside the Ford Foundation). By founding ClientEarth they are now breaking new ground introducing the public interest model in Europe and beyond.

"Michael has been the president of the McIntosh Foundation from 1971 to the present. Through the philosophy of building lasting institutions dedicated to public service, the foundation has been instrumental in founding many non-profit organisations that are today the leaders in their fields. In the field of philanthropy, the McIntosh Foundation has founded the Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties (a $100 million-plus endowment fund for south Florida), the Association of Small Foundations (now the largest network of private foundations in the country numbering over 3,000), and Rachel's Network (a national network of women philanthropists).

"Michael also sits on the board of some of the above organisations as well as The Boat Company, McIntosh Natural Resources and EarthJustice." [1]
