Michael Hirschhorn "is the Executive Director of the Literacy Assistance Center in New York City. He joined the LAC in July 1995 after five years as Deputy Director of Educators for Social Responsibility Metro. Michael holds an MBA and MSW from Columbia University. Formerly, he was Director of the Center for Educational Change at Brooklyn College and Assistant to the Chancellor of the New York City Board of Education. Michael is currently a "Visiting Executive" of the Yale School of Management, where he advises students interested in non-profit and public sector management." [1]

"He serves on the boards of several local and national non-profits along with chairing the board of the Jacob and Hilda Blaustein Foundation, based in Baltimore, MD. Before joining the Literacy Assistance Center, Michael served as deputy director of Educators for Social Responsibility Metro and as an assistant to the Chancellor of the New York City Public Schools."
