Militant Islamic group

The criteria to classify a Militant Islamic group are debatable, and perhaps insensible.

Groups that have been so labelled include at least the following:

Some were classified by the US and allies as being terrorist groups of global reach. The new Global War on Terror rhetoric seems not to use that distinction, or to rely on it to define targets.
