Nazanin Afshin-Jam "is an International human rights activist and recording artist.

"After leading a successful campaign to save the life of a young girl on death row named Nazanin Mahabad Fatehi (www.helpnazanin.com), she recognized the need to put a permanent end to executions of minors in Iran and abroad. She is now the co-founder and President of the 'Stop Child Executions' organization.

"She graduated with double major degrees in International Relations and Political Science from the University of British Columbia and received scholarships to study at the prestigious L'Institut d'Etudes Politiques in Paris and at the International Study Center at Herstmonceux Castle in England. During this time she supported herself working as an actress, and model. Nazanin was a pilot in the Royal Canadian Air Cadets and obtained the highest rank of Warrant Officer First Class. She then worked as a Global Youth Educator with the Red Cross raising awareness on global issues such as the landmine crisis, children affected by war and the poverty-disease cycle. To have a stronger platform Nazanin entered the Miss World competition whose motto is "beauty with a purpose". She won the Miss Canada title and came 1st runner up at Miss World. Nazanin traveled worldwide representing many causes including helping victims of the tsunami in India and Sri Lanka, raising funds for the earthquake victims of Bam, supporting fistula patients in Ethiopia and raising awareness on the practice of Bear Bile Farming in China.

"Nazanin continues to address human rights abuses worldwide particularly in relation to women and children in Iran and the Middle East including speeches at UN, EU, Canadian Parliament and media features on CNN, BBC, CBC, FOX, Al Jazeera and numerous radio shows, talk shows and print including Glamour, Seventeen, Chatelaine, Flare and Vanity Fair magazine.

"In 2006, Nazanin was awarded the "hero for human rights award" from Youth For Human Rights International and Artists for human rights at the United Nations.

"In 2008, Nazanin was appointed as a director on the board of the Canadian Race Relations Foundation by the Prime Minister's office.

"Through her speeches and music Nazanin hopes to continue being a "voice for the voiceless" and deliver her messages of freedom, peace and love worldwide.
